Oak Hill "Star" Employees
October 2008
Joan Lamp, Pathology Aide
Joan joined Oak Hill Hospital in September 2000 as a temporary and then became a pathology aide where she assists the pathologist with preparing specimens, filing, answering phones and all around assistance in the office. Joan has one adult daughter, Angela Holden, and two adult sons, James Anthony and Joshua Lamp. She lives in Brooksville. Her nomination came from her coworkers who extolled her commitment to the team. We are a small department of 4.5 FTEs (full time equivalents) so when one of the techs was out with surgery we were all left very busy. Joan came in early on many occasions to help out. As the story continues, many times during the day she would split her time assisting wherever she could. She has developed a reputation for coming through and helping out whenever there is a need for an associate to fill in. Throughout this time she worked very hard and maintained her own area without a ripple! Joan has proven to be a team player many times. In a small department such as ours, one person out is 22% of the workforce. Thanks to Joan and everyone else in our department patient care was never compromised in the least! For Joans part she enjoys Oak Hill Hospital because of the park-like setting and the great people.
Brian Hagen, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) Technician
Brian joined Oak Hill Hospitals plant operation department in 2001 as the HVAC Tech where he is responsible for repair and maintenance of hospital air conditioning units, which includes both heating and cooling. Brians nomination came from an associate in another department who stated, I left work and my car wouldnt start. Brian took time out of his busy schedule to help me to try and get it started, testing my battery and alternator and jump-starting it. We finally got it started and I was able to drive home. We need more people who are willing to lend a hand without asking for anything in return. The associate went on to praise Brian and state that this is not the first time he has come to the assistance of other associates. For Brians part he says that he truly enjoys his coworkers and the ability to solve concerns from both patients and staff. Brian and his wife Virginia live in Old Homosassa.
Margita Holop, PCA (Patient Care Assistant)
Margita has been working at Oak Hill Hospital since 1997. She is currently on the fourth floor surgical unit as a Patient Care Assistant. She and her husband Steven live in Weeki Wachee. They have three daughters, one son and three beautiful granddaughters (Madyson, age 7, Kylie, age 6, and Lexie, age 4). This is Margitas third time as an Oak Hill Hospital Star and as with the other times her nominations come from patients and coworkers. Her nominations are all in agreement that Margita is kind, caring, never complains, does her work willingly, and shes a joy to be around. One patient pointed out that Margita was the first person who she had met in the mornings while she was a patient. She was happy, bright, supportive, caring and sensitive; everything I needed that day. Its obvious that Margita enjoys her job and she says so. I enjoy taking care of my patients and I enjoy the people I work with.
